It all depends on which ones you want to work once power goes out. Battery/surge means that outlook both provides surge protection and offers battery power if the power to the outlet fails. Surge merely offers surge protection and anything plugged into those outlets will turn off when the power to the outlet fails.

You may find this brochure helpful: http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/JSIE-AD7S69/JSIE-AD7S69_R0_EN.pdf?sdirect=true It lists the common pieces of equipment connected to the battery protected outlets and how much runtime you can expect to have. We would not recommend connecting a printer to the BN450M. The printer should be connected to a separate surge protector.
