“My old E650R UPS from APC had a Powerchute s/w package and online status My original E650R from APC had a nice Powerchute software monitor which hooked in via the dataport... this new system mandates that no connection be made through the dataport (manufacturing only??). Is there any means of monitoring status from my laptop????”

Not on this model. More expensive models have that capability. I believe it was removed to save cost. This one is labeled as network backup which is your modem, router, switch things that do not need to go through a proper shutdown sequence. Like a computer does. Which was the primary reason to use the cable and software.

Because it is intended to protect networking equipment (ie modem, router, etc. vs a PC), we do not include a cable to connect to a PC or the software to monitor from a PC. Thank You,
