• Apple is trying to "diversify" their production lines, therefore some of their AirPods are made in China still, while some of the newer ones are made in Vietnam. All are designed in California by Apple however, so the quality should be the same regardless.

• The AirPods are assembled in more than one place. It’s the logistics that determine which location the AirPods are assembled in.
