“I am looking for earbuds or earphones for my new iPad air 3rd generation. Are the airpods pro a good choice and which charging case should I order. I don't have anything that charges wireless right now so not familiar with that.”

Air pod pros are an excellent choice. By far the best Apple has to date. Charging case is included. I have many high end earbuds and always grab my Apple AirPod pros

You plug the cable into the charging case (which comes with Apple pods) The Pro version (which I have) are well worth the extra cost. The sound cancelling feature is excellent as is the sound quality of whatever you are listening to. Quality of mic connection is top notch too, when making a call on phone. Only thing I would say, is that I have a bit of an issue with the pods sometimes falling out of my ears when on the move. If one of your goals is to use these whilst, say working out at the gym, you might be better off with the Beats version, which hook over the ears. Still made by Apple and otherwise have the same features as the Apple airpods.

The automatic connection and noise reduction is simply divine. They come with a charging cable; all you will need to buy is a wall charger. Since you are an Apple user, you can use that wall charger.
