Noise canceling does indeed work when not playing music. I don’t know how long it stays in that condition, but I know it starts the canceling as soon as you put em in your ears. I have done this for at least 5 minutes without playing any music, so I’m pretty sure they’ll keep cancelling noise, just don’t know if they turn off or sleep at some point due to ‘inactivity’ I am not picky about sound quality, so it’ll be difficult for me to respond to your other question.. I did own Bose QC 35s and have now upgraded to the new NC700s, I don’t think it’s a fair comparison though. I don’t think you’ll ever find earbuds that sound as good as over-ear headphones.. IMO they are in a completely different class. I do own other earbuds like Bose Soundsports and Zolo Liberty +, these AirPods sound as good or better than any earbuds I’ve ever worn..
1) Noise cancelation does work without music and the same goes for transparency mode. You can also turn it off and only use music to get extra battery life. 2) I’d say sound quality is very good. I’m no audiophile, however I can hear stuff I don’t normally hear with normal earphones. I think they do a better job of the noise cancelation not covering the music like the Bose headphones do. The noise cancelation isn’t as good as Bose QC30, but there is no pressure like there are with the Bose.
1. Yes - works fine. I often use it to walk around NYC without music - it sounds like it does after a snowfall, almost silent. 2. Don’t know - don’t have those cans.
Yes they do. You press the button on the stem, and turn that feature on and off.
When you have noise cancellation on you still hear everything around you just not as much ( while playing music) to me i cant tell the difference between using regular headphones BUT When you turn noise cancellation off it amplifys the sound around you so you hear everything around you crystal clear and your music
I have the Bose QC3.0 and the AirPod Pros. The AirPod pro noise cancelling actives immediately when you insert without playing music. I’m comparison to the Bose 3.0 noise cancelling, I would say that the AirPod pros have them beat. However, sound quality purposes, the Bose 3.0 are better. When music is playing, the Bose have the AirPod noise cancelling feature beat. So you pick your poison.
Yes, they work even with just one airpod in your ear. It is not Bose but it is really amazing how noise-c works since it is a small Unit.
(1) Yes (2) I've never tried the Bose QC20 and QuietControl 30 headphones so I wouldn't know
