I use noise canceling blue-toothed headphones for yard work. Lawn Mower, trimmer, etc. Would the AirPods noise canceling be good for drowning out the mower and offer the ear protection you need while listening to music? null

A gas-powered leaf blower was used within 5 feet of me and it was pretty well muffled. No irritating sound got through. I could have easily listened to music, but wanted to be able to answer questions. It's not as silent as 3M Workforce headsets, but those are passive, clamp-around-the-ear muffs. AirPods are a lot easier on the head and can be used anywhere.

I use my headphones at the gym, and they cancel out all the background noise. I also use them when using the vacuum and floor cleaner at home, and the noise cancellation is unbelievable. I don't hear well, and these really help.

Possibly - they definitely cancel a good amount of noise when playing music in noise cancelling mode. You barely hear anything else. But they aren’t cheap, so I’d be more worried that they might fall out accidentally and get lost in the yard or worse, end up under your mower.

I would not go with this item for mowing or yard work. The dr. Dre beats Powerbeats are what I use for the out door activities you are describing. Not the Powerbeats pro but the regular Powerbeats with the wire connecting them. I currently own both and the power beats have an arm that goes around your ear. The air pods pro model as it does stay in your ear better than AirPods gen 1 still have a tendency to slip from the sweat accumulation during strenuous activity. So no to answer your original question.

So here’s my opinion, I own the original air pods, and they were not good for mowing. This version seals in the ear, this helps keep the outside noises out. So that change alone helped, but on top of that they also included noise canceling; and between these two new features I would say yes you could use them for mowing. Now I have a pair of over ear beats studios that I choose to still wear when mowing. Hope this helps.

I can’t answer to the ear protection because these are not for ear protection. Do I think it might help because of the noise cancellation quality, possibly. But I would save that for ear plugs.
