Well, considering that the AirPods are the number one headset in the world with the highest customer satisfaction rating, your assumption is wrong. Do they fit everyone, no. Me included. But they are a great product. Iterating toward being the best and improving the new AirPods are on course and significantly better and the best option for most iPhone users. The reviews so far are outstanding.
