• No, you can use both the Apple Watch and AirPods at the same time. I do with mine all the time.

• Not only can you connect AirPods and Watch to an iPhone at the same time, but you can use the Now Playing app on the Watch to control audio playback which is very handy since the AirPods have minimal controls built in.

• Yes I use them separate all the time and if you decide you suddenly want the other one; pull it out and put in your ear and it will automatically sync and connect.

• It sounds like your trying to connect each AirPod to separate phones. The case will connect to one phone and you can't connect the AirPods seperatly.
