You won't be able to attach it without a case for the airtag that has a hook. Hope that helps!

Please try again later.The airtags have their own little cases, that you can utilize or add to your husband Keychain, of course they don't come with the airtag, but atleast they have the option. The airtags are small circular disc's, so you will need the case, they have waterproof and even otterbox cases for the device.
