It can't; AirTags are only compatible with Apple devices.

You have to check directions if it can be used with other than apple devices but I’d believe so bc connects through bluetooth

Probably not. It works with Apple products to setup the airtag, give it a name, and it automatically registers with the phone number of the owner. My wife has a Samsung Note 20 phone and the only thing that it can do is "recognize" the airtag via NFC. When the Samsung phone is tap with the Apple airtag via NFC, it will state something like "This airtag belongs to ###-###-<last 4 digits of owner's phone". So if you found an item that has an airtag, it can at least help you locate the owner if the owner sets it up to show the full phone number.
