Is this unit currently supported by Apple updates? null

Apple does not support it for current major macOS versions anymore. But it can still receive security updates only if it’s running its last supported macOS version. It will not get new macOS features or future OS releases. If you mean usable with limited security patches on an older macOS, then yes, but with limitations.
