Home-Kit enabled devices are devices that are compatible with the "Home" app on your iPhone or iPad, the significance being, they're much easier to pair with the Home app (by scanning a HomeKit barcode) and you can control multiple smart home devices from a central app, versus having to download one app to control lighting, another to control your thermostat, another to control your doorbell, etc. These also will support voice control via Siri for simple commands -- i.e. Siri, turn off the bedroom lights. Or for scenes, for instance saying "Siri, it's move time" and Siri responding by turning off all the lights in your house except the living room lights, dimming the living room lights, lowering the thermostat temperature and locking the door (so basically, a sequence of actions). Hope this helps and I'm recommending some HomeKit products for you to checkout below! Best regards.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have non-compatible Homekit products, you'll need a Raspberry Pi and install Homebridge on it. Then you install HomeBridge into Homekit. You will need the API's for the products you want to control with Homebridge. This is how I get all my Alexa devices work with Homekit. It's doable but not for beginners because the setup is a bit more involved and requires you to register as a developer for connected devices not supported by Apple's Homekit.
