“When you purchase an ipad with wifi plus cellular package, does that mean you MUST have an active cellular package? I want to know if I want to purchase this with the option to use cellular or it is a must?”

This question is for: Apple - 10.5-Inch iPad Air (3rd Generation) with Wi-Fi + Cellular - 256GB - Space Gray (Unlocked)

No, you do not have to activate a cellular package to use the iPad. We have an older model in use for YEARS and never activated the cellular feature. It was the only one in stock at the time so we had no choice but to select it.

Cellular service is optional and can be activated later. Please check your carrier for compatibility and plan availability.

My understanding is that the cellular plan is needed if you want to use the iPad as a separate unit from your wifi and/or cell phone. If you are not planning on using it this way, then I suggest you purchase the other iPad and save over $150.

No. You don’t have to have an active cellular package. Cellular is very helpful when wi-if isn’t working.
