The case has a raised bezel that surrounds the camera. With the case on the phone does not lay perfectly flat but it does lay flatter than it would without the case. To get a perfectly flat case, it would need to be pretty thick due to the camera size. For this case the camera lenses would stick out if the bezel was not there.

Since the rim of case around camera isn’t centered in the middle or the phone, the phone does have a little wobble left to right. But the rim should keep the camera from touching a flat surface.
