• If you pay $199 for your phone than you own it free and clear after your 2 year contract is up. You should not be paying any monthly charges. The monthly charges are for customers who are renting their phones. Hope this helps

• yes you pay for your plan each month.the 199 is for phone only for the 2 year contract period,the phone doesn't cost you any more.most plans today are unlimited text,talk and then you buy the data plan that suits you
