“Does this cover protect the back of the iPad as well, or only the front of the iPad? I really don't like getting scratches on the back of the iPad.”

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, it doesn’t protect the back. I purchased the sleeve and the tablet fits with the cover on it. Also, if you purchase the sleeve, it comes with an Apple Pencil holder.
