• It depends on when the computer is initially turned on and registered. If it has never been registered, then Apple will have to decide when it starts after you call customer support

• This would be a question that I would ask a Best Buy associate directly just to be absolutely certain.

• It should be for 12 months. Check with support.apple.com under your devices and update the purchase date.
