• I think you are mistaking RAM for hard drive size. 8 GB RAM is fine for most people that don't have memory intensive programs; you can run 6-8 programs at one time on it and it won't "lag". Storage space is what you are talking about on your daughter's iPad; this macbook air has minimum 128GB of hard drive and goes up from there (of course so does the price).

• If you're buying for someone who needs a lot of storage, 128GB is small and probably insufficient. It would fill up quickly from photos and videos. Look for 512GB or 1TB drive size. The RAM could be 16GB but 8GB is standard and enough for most uses. The New 13" MacBook Pros come with 8GB.

• The 8GB is the least amount of storage you can get in the MacBook Air. You might want to get a 16GB since your daughter filled up her iPad 8GB pretty quickly...
