Yes, the keyboard has a charging port for the iPad so you can use external ports through the iPad

They will add all sorts of capabilities to your iPad and some have charging capabilities for your device and let you add various USB/HDMI/other devices like monitors and storage. (Not every device is 100% supported, however, and will/may be trial and error)
