If you don't have a 4k tv then you don't need to purchase an apple 4k. The other thing to think about is if you want to download apps to you apple tv. If you have kids or a different app you like to use to watch shows or play on then get an apple tv with storage. If not then just use stick with the cheaper older version because it will do the same thing. You can still rent HD movies. Just make sure your HDMI cable can handle the HD setting you want
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When you set your tv up initially did it ask you to connect to your network/WiFi’s? Chances are if it did then you have a smart tv and Your tv is at the very least HD, maybe 4K which is UHD. The Apple TV will give your tv access to Netflix, amazon prime(recent), Hulu, and other streaming applications as well as any iTunes movie or show. Your tv will need to have an hdmi connection though which it should have if it’s and HD or 4K tv. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If the laptop is a Mac with Airplay built-in, you're in luck. Sound & video can both travel wirelessly to your Apple TV and ultimately, your TV. A word of caution, though: you'll want to be sure your WiFi signal is fairly strong, or better yet, run an ethernet cable into the Apple TV from your cable or DSL modem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have a plain HD TV just get the other Apple TV it’s less expensive but you’ll need Internet access in order for it to work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Any generation of the Apple TV can work for you. If you don’t have a 4K TV then there is not point (unless you plan to buy own soon) if getting the 4K Apple TV. The other generations stream apps like Hulu, Netflix, etc. of course ITunes has movies and tv available if you have an Apple account. You don’t need anything except WiFi to make Apple TV work.
