• Yep, it sure would. Just use the airplay feature from your device and click on the Apple TV from the list. Voila, you can now play videos, photos, music from your device to your tv.

• From my experience, you can play anything from your iTunes library to your television via AppleTV. Audio is able to be transmitted from iTunes to the AppleTV, and you can AirPlay any video as long as you're using an Apple computer. In short, the AppleTV should connect directly to your iTunes library. It even has a "music" app that shows everything included in your iTunes library.
