• Reset your Apple TV. Make sure the wifi on your phone and TV are the same. When setting up your Apple TV, get your iphone as close to the TV and sign in to the ICloud. This will avoid error messages because of loss connection from the wifi.

• Are you on the same network? I have 3 different networks since I've upgraded the speed. So make sure you're phone and Apple TV is on the same WiFi network.

• GET CLOSER TO YOUR ROUTER. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. MOVED TO WITHIN 4 FEET OF ROUTER AND IT PAIRED.

• I’m using an 8plus and have no problems. Since both products are Apple I would contact Apple support.
