• You do have to have an Apple account, but do not have to have a subscription to any Apple related products. You can use it very much like a Roku. You can add apps that you already use/subscribe to, like netflix, Vudu, Hulu, MoviesAnywhere, etc. There are free streaming options, but you can add almost any streaming options that you want, also.
