• The price difference is based on materials. The entry level Apple watch is made of aluminum and the more expensive watches are made of stainless steel or ceramic.

• If you are comparing the models belonging to same series, say series 2, then the price difference is because of case and band material. In series 3, higher end models also come with built in cellular. The hardware/software is same.

• The more expensive ones are made from stainless steel, vs aluminum for the less expensive ones. There are ceramic versions that cost in the upwards of $1000+ as well.
