The added cost is worth it... if you say, leave your phone in the car and go into the grocery, you can recieve a call on your watch from someone. Its a $10/Month addition to your cellular bill, but its really a worthwhile option in my opinion.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you activate the cellular on it, then you will be charged monthly by your carrier. But you can use the cellular apple watch without activating the cellular option. It lets you skip the cellular setup when you first setup the watch.
