“Can the USB and Software clone 3.5 in hard drives too?”

• The packaging explicitly states that it is designed for 2.5" drives not 3.5. It will fit 3.5" sata drives, but this use may cause damage to the drive or cable if the drive attempts to pull too much power over usb. I linked an item designed to support 3.5" drives. If you are in a rush, get from the store. If you have time to wait for shipping, price check the same cable on amazon and new egg. You will probably find it or an equivalent for 1/2 to 1/4 the cost.

• According to the instructions works only on laptop size SATA drives. Never tried it on desktops...

• Yes - I used this product to successfully clone existing laptop 3.5 inch hard drive to new 1 tb hard drive. Laptop booted up perfectly from new hard drive - With all pre-existing partitions from former hard drive.
