• This cable is ideal for cloning your computer’s existing hard drive in case you want a complete backup of everything on your computer or if you want to physically replace the HDD with a faster / better one (i.e. an SSD drive) without having to reinstall the operating system and the drivers. You’ll have to have a 2.5 inch HDD or SSD drive (same size as the one on your existing laptop) so that you can clone / replicate it before physically swapping it. Are you just trying to transfer specific files / folders on your desktop from one computer to another?

• Should be able to do that! I could from my macbook laptop to a SSD which hadn’t been installed into the laptop without a problem.
