Correct, it won't work without an active Internet connection for this model. You'll have to look into the Arlo Q Plus, which adds a MicroSD slot for those scenarios when your Internet is down and it needs to save the video.

The alternative is to store all your video locally in hard drives within the home, which can easily be destroyed or stolen by the very people breaking into your home. It's a trade off.

But yes, pretty much useless w/o Internet Connection. If you have the Arlo Q Plus, then it will work if Internet connection is down but only recording to SDCard but no capability to view live feeds
