Yes, that's how mine is setup. You can also view the cam on your phone. Either "live" or viewing the recordings.

You can live view at any time...but you also receive 7 days of cloud storage for free (I know you said you didn't have a need for this), but as mentioned, no fee for the first 5 cameras. They can be viewed on laptop, desktop, apple tv (most recent version) and some other devises. You can only view on 1 devise at a time, that being, if you are logged in on your phone and then log-in on another devices, your will get cut-off of the first one that you were logged into.
