• It doesn't use any data. It uses Wi-Fi. At least that's the way mine works. I don't even have data on my cell phone. Mine are connected to my home Wi-Fi

• It depends on how much motion or sound there is. Camera only turns on with sound or motion and turns off when there is no more.
