• A:Answer The G54 does not have Mesh Wi-Fi capability. You can connect a Mesh Wi-Fi system to the G54 but you will either have to bridge the G54 so that the G54 functions as a cable modem and the MESH Wi-Fi functions as the primary router. Or bridge the MESH Wi-Fi system so that the G54 functions as the primary router and the MESH System functions as the Wi-Fi extender.

• A:Answer Optimum allows DOCSIS 3.1 modems on their Internet (no phone service) service for all Internet speeds. Please check with Optimum if they allow the G54 with their Cable Internet service.

Q: QuestionLooks like it has only 1 ethernet port for a hardwired connection. I like to hardwire my TV and gaming systems instead of connecting via WiFi since they sit right next to the router. Am I correct?

• A:Answer The SURFboard G54 is designed for internet only and doesn’t support Xfinity Voice service. This model won’t work because it can’t carry voice signals and Comcast doesn’t enable voice on it. For phone service, you’ll need a voice-compatible modem.
