• At least 4 years unless it has physical damage.

• Barring physical issues (drops, spills, etc) you are probably going to get a few years out of this. It is an internet based system (think Eee style laptop but Chrome based).

• That depends on your environment, handling, processes and programs used. If you're looking long term, why not invest more money?

• Although I've had my Macbook for a short time, I have Mac products that I've kept and used not just for a couple of years, but for more than a decade! I have a (very cool!) clam-shell iBook for instance, that starts up and works like the day I got it more than 15 years ago. If you don't drop it or spill a latte on it, you should be able to use this machine for a good long time--certainly years not just months.
