Q: Would this be a good laptop for school?
A: Yes. I bought one of these laptops for both of my twelve year old daughters who live on it since getting it. They use it for research for school and do a lot of searching the internet as well as you it for social media. They have not had a single problem with them and love the fact that they can use wireless mouse with it and a flash drive.
Q: Do you still have to buy virus or spyware protection for chromebooks?
A: No you do not need to worry about spyware or viruses
Q: Can itunes be added to this?
A: I don't think so. iTunes is an individual, executable program. Chromebooks are basically strong netbooks built around Google's construct. So you could access iCloud since it's on the internet, but you shouldn't be able to download programs such as iTunes. It does bear apps such as Play Music, etc. for music playing. However, these won't sync to your iTunes nor allow you to import what's stored on your iTunes library.
Q: Can I use a printer with it?
A: Yes.
Q: For how many years/months can I expect this to last?
A: 5 YEARS
Q: Is this compatible with Word?
A: Yes, I use the complete Office suite--Word, Power Point, Excel, pretty much every day.
Q: How do you brighten the screen display?
A: There are two buttons on the keyboard that control brightness. They are at the very top, and are the seventh and eighth key in, starting from the left. They look like a small and big sun.
