• Yes the keyboard is backlit, do Ctrl + F3/F4 for it to be enabled.

• This laptop does have a backlit keyboard but I found that fn +F3 or F4 keys make it turn on or off. That fn key is in the lower left near the ctrl key but not the ctrl key itself. Be aware that having it on will likely shorten the battery life a little. If you aren't aware, the fn key stands for function and the cntl key stands for control. There is a digital manual that comes within the laptop itself. You might have a look at it.
