Most any external USB DVD burner should work with this laptop. It has ample USB ports to support the external device. The only one I am aware of that you should avoid is the Apple external DVD burner as I think it is setup to work only with specific apple models.

Yes. I took advantage of the special discount offered on LG drives. Any USB unit with Windows 10 drivers should work.

Any external DVD, CD or Blu-ray Burner will work with any laptop with USB ports- PC or MC ( I'm sayin MC 'cos McIntosh has no "a" in it.). Most include software for burning, but even if they don't , Windows and OSX both have the ability to write and read data discs.
