This machine is NOT consumer friendly, Asus doesn't support any user modifications. You must send it into Asus to have anything done on it. Or your warranty is void:P Blah blah blah.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No.. you just have to pull it off evenly if that makes sense. It does feel like you are going to break it but its got fasteners in the middle you just have to get to pop out.

You said it appeared to be connected in the middle but all the screws were out.....did you try sliding the cover side ways or up and down? Don't know if this is the answer but on other laptops I have that is how the backs are removed.
