QuestionCan anyone provide some guidance on getting the cover off so that I can replace the hdd with a ssd? I removed the screws and the cover still did not budge.

- Answer I used a very thin screwdriver on the long edge (space bar edge) to begin popping the cover off. It's the most flexible side which will help prevent accidentally gouging the lid. Also, do yourself a favor, don't put a SATA SSD in the machine but rather take advantage of the M.2 socket and install a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E500BW) . It's 100 times faster than SATA and cheap ($116 on Amazon). That is a wicked fast drive. Reinstall windows (or your fav OS) on it and use it as your primary drive. It will blow you away at how fast it boots.

QuestionI have this laptop and it gets hot very quickly? I'm a digital artist so I use programs like Corel Painter and Krita to make my paintings. The computer gets a little slow as it heats up, and it heats up quickly, even when I'm just browsing it gets warm.

- Answer Hi Try swapping out the hdd for a ssd. there is an open slot for NVME M.2 SSd. The laptop does run a little hot but it isn't too bad.

QuestionDoes this model support thunderbolt?

- Answer It has a USB-c port and it has USB 3.0. It is DOES NOT HAVE thunderbolt 3.0. You can tell the latter of these because it will have a thunderbolt next to the USBC port. On this model, the thunderbolt is by a USB port, which is indicative of the port being "hot" when the device is closed or possibly fast charging. I've not gotten a clear answer there.

- Answer I bought one about a month ago and I have not experienced any undue heating or screen issues. My ASUS is operating perfectly. I'm loving the speed and clarity of the screen. I suggest you take it in for an exchange.

- Answer With most new laptops, it is fairly easy to remove the bottom panel. You may need some small screwdrivers, or small torx drivers. You may have to pry carefully around the edges with a plastic tool to release the plastic catches. There is one connector to the battery. Carefully disconnect the old battery, connect the new one, and put the panel back on. There are many pc disassembly videos on youtube. Or, any pc repair shop should be able to do this for you.

QuestionI am having trouble getting the charger to plug in. Seems like the alignment is off, and I have to sort of "force" it in. Did anyone else have this issue? Does it eventually plug in more easily, or does it continually seem to not quite fit right?

- Answer It's a tight fit for sure. I'm assuming it's designed that way. Take your time, make sure it's straight, you'll get use to it.

- Answer This has one soldered 8GB card on the backside of the circuit board and one removable and accessible 8GB DIMM next to the M.2. I was able to swap the second one for a 16GB and it works completely fine. It's not my preference to have mismatched memory, but it's what I had to work with. I also added a SSD. At 4 years old, I have a more powerful and dynamic laptop than what's on the market with a 24GB Ram 1TB SSD 2TB HDD. My only wish was for a better graphics card. Maybe next time.
