your doing nothing wrong. Had the same problem and did what you did as well by hookingup a speaker. so it's more for plugging in headphones
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have the same monitor but not the same problem. If you want to get good sound you need to plug in the aux cable that comes with it into the pc, then in the monitor you have the green output you could plug in an external speaker
