The hard drive reads more in advance and it can take up to 2MB unit buffer. The higher the buffer, the better especially for BDs. If you're not planning to buy or upgrade within the next 12 months or so, then get the BW-12B1ST. But if you do not plan to burn BD anytime soon, then the BC-12B1ST would suffice. This model is enough to read BD as well as write DVDs and CDs only.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I wouldn't think so, The buffer allows for seamless communication between the BD and the computer memory. If you are not going to burn BDs then you should need a large buffer.
