• The device natively is compatible with Kindle through a browser extension. With access to the Google Play Store, you can load whichever e-book reading app you prefer. If you are talking about an external e-book reader, as long as the disk space on the e-reader can be read over a USB connection, you should be able to download and tranfer ePub and PDF files

• You can use the Kindle or Nook apps from the Google Play Store (or any other reading app available via Play), as well as the Kindle Cloud Reader or Kindle Chrome extension. In terms of (for example) sideloading Epub files directly to the device, I'm afraid I have not tried that and cannot provide an answer.

• I don't know about the Nook reader, but it is compatible with Kindle for Android & Overdrive.
