The ram comes in 2 8gb sticks with one stick soldered. This means one stick is upgradeable, potentially up to a 16gb stick with a total of 24gb. This won't be running in dual channel and can result in instability especially for gaming. For applications that require high memory however, it may be worthwhile upgrading.

I even called Asus and they said all 16gb was soldered on with a free slot, and that it's upgradeable to 32gb total. That doesn't seem right. I "think" the rtx3080 model has 16gb soldered on and a 16gm memory module, 32gb total. And the 3070 model has 8gb soldered on and a 8gb memory module, 16gb total. In any case, if it's 8gb soldered and you put in a 32gb module for 40gb total, the first 8gb on the stick should run in dual channel and the 24gb beyond that in single. If I'm mistaken, someone please correct.
