It's becoming a common issue now that Asus and Best Buy won't acknowledge. Just look at all the reports over at reddit and within the reviews here too. Many of us are wondering if it's something a driver update could fix, but we're all racing against the return window. If it's a hardware defect, which I'm leaning towards since they introduced their "force cancelling woofers", then we're all screwed. Quite an embarrassing oversight if a feature they were promoting for this turns out to be what's causing this issue.

ASUS is urgently pumping out audio driver updates that seem to be turning down bass/lowering max volume to try and "fix" this. Just masks it in my opinion. I will be returning mine and wouldn't recommend buying this if you need decent audio until ASUS fixes the hardware.
