- Answer This laptop model either uses a Micron or an A-Data M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD. A serial number is required in order to determine the specific brand of SSD and its read/write speed on a particular laptop.

- Answer No, There is only one open SSD connector on the ASUS M5606UA. The device supports an M.2 2280 PCIe, Gen4x4 SSD. There is a maximum capacity of 2TB for the SSD slot.

QuestionThe features description of USB is obviously wrong as it says Thunderbolt. Piecing together with Specs I get 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 (right?), and 1x USB-C 4. Either USB-C port can chargelaptop. Both USB-C ports have display out. Also HDMI.

- Answer Let me make a slight mod to the Asus answer, to make it slightly more accurate. The USB-C 4.0 port does support Thunderbolt devices (depending on device - Thunderbolt 3 devices more likely supported). The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port is just a USB port and does not support Thunderbolt at all (and same for the two USB type A ports. Looks like both type C ports support Display Port out, and I think both of them support Charging In as well. So if you have a monitor with a type C in that also provides power, you could power your laptop from your display. Also note that with the USB-C 4.0 having 40 bandwidth, you can have a wired 10GbE Ethernet connection at the cost of an Ethernet dongle that sells for as cheap as $25.

- Answer I believe the Asus answer is a lie! If you look at model M5606UA on the Asus online web site it only mentions a single charging source, namely a 90 Watt mini-brick that charges through either the USB-C 3.2 port or USB-C 4 port. No mention of separate bigger charging brick and no visible dedicated charging port. Asus, are you having a hallucinating AI answer these questions? If so, shame on you.

QuestionNothing said about memory config. All 16 GB soldered? 8 GB soldered plus 8 GB in a socket upgradeable? Two sockets with 8 GB in each, both upgradeable? Sockets upgradeable to what? Is there an open M.2 slot for adding a 2nd SSD?

- Answer Thanx EnthusedAboutRyzen8000 (me too, and Ryzen 9000 as well), and I read the Asus newsletter and it’s consistent with what you said. However, the Specs definitely says 16 GB of LPDDR5X, and those chips are always soldered as far as I know. Plus there are other errors in that news article (like it says USB 2.0 and almost certainly it must have USB 4.0, plus it specs Ryzen 7000 chips when it actually used Ryzen 8000 CPUs). Almost certainly those were preliminary specs, but the 8000 CPUs came out in time to sub in those (plus supported USB 4.0 - explaining that error. So I don’t trust that news article. I will assume 16 GB soldered until such time as affirmed or corrected by a purchaser, or researched thoroughly by Asus staff.
