A:Answer Yes, you should be able to answer a call on any one of the handsets. There is something wrong with your setup. Do the other handsets get dial tones and make outgoing calls? It is possible they are too far from the base station, or that something is interfering with the signal. Try moving them closer to the base to troubleshoot. I have done this by calling from my cellphone and checking each handset individually IN THE SAME room with the base. If they all work in the room, but not where you want to place them there are still a few things to try, moving the base for instance, or adjusting the antenna. if they DO Not work any better near the base, check the battery connection and charge, if that seems okay return them.
If they work at the base, but not in the room you want them in, try walking from the base to the spot while listening to a call. (I used my cell and music playing for the incoming call), Note where the call drops and look for possible issues. Are you just too far from the base? Is there an electronic transmitter of some type nearby? Is the house studded with aluminum or steel studs making it a Faraday Cage? Some issues will be beyond this phone's capability.
