- Answer Yes, you can connect it to WiFi without it being activated at ATT. I just bought this phone for my 9 year old. The phone is able to download Ames and use them while on WiFi. This is true as of 23 Nov ‘17.

- Answer No. It is Att branded. After some time in use on Att Network Att may allow unlocking but it's up to them. Check unlock policy regards this phone

- Answer If you are purchasing the cellphone from Best Buy or some other carrier you can ask to keep your current cellphone number. If you order off line be sure that the phone is sold by the carrier you currently use. Then you can just transfer contacts from one phone to other. Hope this information helps.

- Answer Hello, if you just using it over WiFi you don’t need to unlock the SIM card. All to do is turn on the WiFi, connect to your WiFi In range with you password and you will be able to use it to browse the internet. If you want to make calls you can download apps that are for making calls which provide you with a number. Keep in mind you will need to be on WiFi in order to work.
