To unlock an AT&T prepaid phone you can request an unlock from AT&T. Visit the AT&T website to look it up. Usually they will unlock after 6 months on AT&T service but you can try to request an unlock as a non AT&T customer. Search "AT&T phone unlock request" on Google. To IMMEDIATELY use a flip phone on SafeLink, you should consider that SafeLink runs on the TracFone family brand of Net10. You may be able to buy a TracFone and get it rebranded to SafeLink like I did with a TF Stylo 3. You have to make sure it runs on the same network as your current service if you have to have an AT&T based phone (AT&T is GSM). Most TracFones run on Verizon. A few are T-Mobile. There are Alcatel MyFlip phones model A405DL or TFALA405DC that are very similar to this AT&T Alcatel Smartflip 4052R model. I have both Alcatel flips. You can buy the Alcatel MyFlip at Best Buy, and at the TracFone website for less than the AT&T Smartflip. But DON'T buy the phone until you verify with SafeLink that you can transfer your service to the TracFone MyFlip. I did transfer service from a GSM ZTE zFiveG that SafeLink gave me, to a Verizon based TracFone SIM that came with my LG Stylo 3. It took a long time by phonecall and it worked.
