A radio receiver on the same frequency is used to receive the audio from the microphone. The receiver must be connected to something that has a microphone preamplifier (typically in the form of a 3-pin XLR MIC input), a power amplifier, and a speaker associated with it. The simplest, and perhaps most cost-effective, form of this would be a powered PA speaker which has an XLR Microphone input on it.
