Assuming that the SL-1500C has a tonearm effective mass of 12 grams, like most of Technics s-shaped tonearms, the VM540ML Cartridge would be a good match. The resonant frequency of this tonearm/cartridge combination would be 9 Hz, which falls within the preferred range of 8 to 11 Hz. Note that this is obtained when using the provided Technics headshell, which weighs 7.6 grams. If you replace this headshell with the AT-HS10 Headshell which is the headshell the VM540ML/H Headshell/Cartridge Combo Kit consists of, the effective tonearm mass will be increased to 14.4 grams and the resonate frequency of this combination drops to 8 Hz.
