Look on back for the Phono/Inline switch. That may be your answer. Inline if receiver doesn't have a phono input. The directions with the turntable will tell you how to position the belt. The red strips included help pull the belt over the belt pulley. If you didn't use them, the instructions will tell you how to set the belt over the pulley through the openings in the silver platter. You first need to make sure the belt is flat around the base, and then pull the belt carefully over the pulley through the platter opening. It's not difficult. Good luck.
