Replace the deadbolt. I ran into same issue in a Schledge deadbolt - though listed as compatible. It was bot due to a short piece on either side. Not one piece. I changed out deadbolts off a different door (takes 2 minutes). Just make sure your plastic bit is on the August or the stick on rear when you go to put lock on or the "wings" won't tighten.
